The latest and greatest news from the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon
THE SQUEAL is the free e-mail newsletter of the
10th Annual Flying Pig Marathon
13 Days until Flying Pig Marathon Weekend!
Greetings!
Welcome to Day 14 of our daily e-mail blasts to help you prepare for the 10th annual Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon events.
We mentioned that lots of people use the Pig
for their favorite cause, and here's one
example from Kelly Ross in Loveland, Ohio: "I
am running the full marathon for a charity
called Cure JM. My neighbor was diagnosed
with Juvenile Myositis (JM) a few years ago,
which is an autoimmune disorder mainly
affecting the muscular system. I ran the 2006
Chicago marathon, which was their first
fund-raiser ever. I decided to stay closer
to home and run the Flying Pig (my last Pig
was the first Pig!). If you would like to see
my fundraising website, it is www.firstgiving.com/kellyross1."
Best of luck, Kelly! Why are you coming to
the Pig this year? Email us at media@flyingpigmarathon.com
along with your contact information.
Pig Points
Did you know that it takes more than 3,500
volunteers to help make the "Pig" run each
year? From 'ham' operators to water stop
workers, thousands of Greater Cincinnatians
give up their time and talents to help the
Flying Pig Marathon go as smoothly as
possible. Don't forget to thank the
volunteers as you go by!
Turn by Turn Navigation
If you're not familiar with the event
courses, from the Fleet Feet Sports 5K to the
full Marathon, remember that you can see the
course maps here
or pick up a Spectator Guide while you're at
the Flying Pig Health & Fitness Expo
presented by National City to see the route.
The Greening 'o the Pig
When you're at the Finish Line and Victory
Party areas, look for the recycling bins
placed along the course by Keep Cincinnati
Beautiful. Every piece of paper or plastic
you recycle helps keep Cincinnati, and the
"Pig," green for years to come.
Cincinnati USA puts the fun in the run!
